Babel

Posted : 17 years, 5 months ago on 12 November 2006 12:22 (A review of Babel)

This movie was well made, but it won't have you leaving with a smile on your face. The movie revolves around a rifle and a stray bullet. Four story lines revolve around this event. One takes place in Morroco, another in Japan, and the last takes place in San Diego and Mexico.
Although the stories are attached to each other, they each have there own plot. I really enjoyed the way that the music and the feel for the movie changed with each setting and culture. This really adds to the feel and emotions for each location.
There are subtitles so be prepared to do some reading. The movie has messages in the subplots that are pretty powerful and hard hitting. Don't go to this movie if you are looking for light entertainment. The movie packs a strong punch that will leave you emotionally drained.

The Prestige

Posted : 17 years, 6 months ago on 5 November 2006 09:38 (A review of The Prestige)

If you watched The Illusionist, you will also like this movie. Hugh Jackman and Christian Bale did a very fine job in carrying this film to a very well crafted closing scene. This is a told dark tale of revenge cleverly done by Christopher Nolan. In the movie, the two illusionists try to outshow each other with increasingly more grand illusions. Each tries to sabotage and gain the other's secrets. Some of the secrets of illusions that we learn from watching the movie are really fun to discover. The story line bounces around with flashbacks, but it just adds to the suspense and desire to find out what will happen next. The movie could be watched by all members of the family, but it does have a dark tone to it and may not be appropriate for younger children. Hope you enjoy your next outing to the movies.

Flushed Away

Posted : 17 years, 6 months ago on 5 November 2006 09:24 (A review of Flushed Away)

Just watched this movie today with my son. It is a very good family movie and will keep the adults attentions also. It has a good story line which is missing in a lot of cartoon movies. The quality of the computer animation is very well done. The basic storyline of the movie is that a pet rat is flushed down his toilet into an underground city of rats. There is a toad in this city that is trying to get rid of the rats. Our main characters has a lot of adventures (most are very humerous)on his way to helping save the city. Of course there is a female rat that attracts our hero's attentions also. This is a Dreamworks release and follows the quality of the animation that they have produce the last few years. This is a movie that your kids will enjoy and the adults won't fall asleep while watching.
